Makai Nyírő István (kb. 1590–1651) 17. századi kolozsvári unitárius pap és konzisztor volt, a nyomdászként működő Makai Nyírő János (†1622) bátyja. Dolgozatomban olyan publikálatlan és figyelmen kívül hagyott adatokat és forrásokat dolgozok fel, amelyek pontosabbá és teljesebbé tehetik életrajzát. Ezek közül kettő különösen becses: az egyik egy pestis megszűnéséért való könyörgése, a másik pedig végrendelete. Utóbbi nemcsak irodalom-, hanem könyvtártörténeti jelentőséggel is bír. Egyfelől ez alapján zárható ki ugyanis, hogy az ún. Abrugyi György kézirat (1655–56) Makai István nevű másolója azonos lenne vele vagy bármelyik örökösével, másfelől pedig ez a legrégebbi olyan ránk maradt testamentum, amelyben egy unitárius pap saját gyülekezetére hagyományozza magángyűjteményét. | István Makai Nyírő (ca. 1590–1651) was a 17th-century Unitarian priest and member of the consistoryin Cluj during the seventeenth century, and the brother of János Makai Nyírő (†1622), who worked as a printer. This paper examines previously unpublished and overlooked data and sources that may enhance the accuracy and comprehensiveness of his biography. Two of these are particularly valu-able: one is a supplication in which he asked for the plague of 1622/23 to end, and the other is his testament. The latter is significant not only for literary history but also for the history of libraries. On the one hand, the testament makes it possible to exclude the possibility that the copyist of the so-called Abrugyi György kézirat(Abrugyi György manuscript 1655–56), who also bore the name István Makai, was either the same person as him or one of his heirs. On the other hand, it is the earliest surviving testament in which a Unitarian priest bequeaths his private collection of books to his own congregation.
