The members and representatives of the German minority in Hungary today expect from the minority education system, rather than from the families, the possibility of learning German at a high level, of passing on the minority culture to future generations, and of developing a sense of ethnic identity. In the case of the German minority, which has been significantly assimilated linguistically and whose numbers are declining, these expectations can only be met by well-prepared teachers, who are trained to meet the tasks and challenges in the various forms of German minority education. This article provides an overview of kindergarten, primary and secondary school teacher training programs for German minority teachers. The curricula of different higher education courses, internships, scholarship opportunities and admission statistics are presented in detail, and a summary is provided at the end of the study, which identifies the main weaknesses in the training of German minority teachers.
