2024-ben a Magyar Nemzeti Bank (MNB) egy ezüst és egy bronz „Baranya vármegye, Pécs” emlékérmét ajándékozott a Janus Pannonius Múzeum Történeti Osztályának. Az érmék a „Magyarország vármegyéi és vármegyeszékhelyei” sorozat második darabjaként jelentek meg, motívumainak meghatározásához az MNB a Janus Pannonius Múzeum szakmai közreműködését kérte. Az új szerzemény ismertetése kitér az emlékérme fogalmának meghatározására, röviden áttekinti azt a folyamatot, ahogyan az emlékérmék kibocsátása az MNB gyakorlatává vált, majd összegzi a Pécshez és Baranyához kapcsolódó korábbi emlékérméket. Ezt követően részletesen leírja a „Baranya vármegye, Pécs” emlékérmék létrejöttének folyamatát, kitérve az ikonográfiai megoldásokra, a numizmatikai jellemzőkre (névérték, minőség, anyag, súly, átmérő, verhető darabszám), és a sorozat többi darabjának ismertetésére. | In 2024, the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) gifted a silver and a bronze "Baranya County, Pécs" commemorative coin to the Historical Department of the Janus Pannonius Museum. The coins were issued as the second pieces in the "Counties and County Seats of Hungary" series, with the MNB requesting professional collaboration from the Janus Pannonius Museum in determining their motifs. The introduction of this new acquisition explains the concept of commemorative coins, briefly reviews the process by which issuing commemorative coins became part of the MNB's practice, and summarizes previous coins associated with Pécs and Baranya. It then provides a detailed description of the creation of the "Baranya County, Pécs" commemorative coins, including discussions on the iconographic solutions, numismatic characteristics (such as face value, quality, material, weight, diameter, and mintable quantity), and the other pieces in the series.
