Tartalmi leírás:
In the second half of the 19th century, the state legally recognised the Hungarian Reformed Church, but by that time, the circumstances had changed a lot because of urbanization and modernization; thus, the Reformed Church had to face new challenges. The so-called Home Mission realized that the church members’ faith had faded, so its new task was to re-evangelize them. The main character of this mission was Aladár Szabó, a professor of Theology in the capital (Budapest). He repeatedly proposed the renewal of theological education. However, it was only 20 years later that his endeavours became successful when the Home Mission course became mandatory for the students of Theology. The seed gave its fruit after the First World War when multiple theologian generations joined the Home Mission until the Communist regime outlawed it.
