They also evaluate current alternatives aimed at improving test specificity, including non-LPS antigens, R-type LPS-based reagents, and innovative molecular approaches. Although several of these efforts show promise, no single method provides a definitive solution. Practical implementation is hindered by cost, throughput, and complexity. Therefore, resolving the FPSR issue requires both enhanced molecular insight and a paradigm shift in diagnostic strategy. Novel targets, such as microbial cell-free DNA and structurally distinct antigens, offer potential pathways for more accurate brucellosis diagnostics in both veterinary and human health contexts.
