One important application and research area of EMC measurements is radiated emissions and immunity testing. In many cases the usage of near-field plane wave antennas is necessary. One possible antenna type for near-field plane wave antennas is dielectric-type elliptic antennas which we are investigating now. This paper briefly describes the principle of an electrical material parameter measurement system in the millimeter waves and the measurement results for some dielectric materials that can be used as radome, dielectric lenses, or even dielectric bodies such as antennas. After measuring the parameters of the four possible dielectric materials, the design of an elliptic antenna is presented, and the simulation results are introduced.
