The three-dimensional simulation of the two-way coupling between the plasma and eddy currents in tokamak type fusion reactors remains an unsolved multiphysics problem. To address this challenge, various numerical environments can be considered; one such is GetDP. GetDP is a general purpose finite element solver capable of conducting simulations using arbitrary formalisms. In this paper two- and three dimensional benchmark problems are solved using GetDP, serving as the first step toward solving the aforementioned multiphysics problem. The models assume prescribed plasma currents and simplified geometries. Magnetic fields and eddy currents are calculated using the A-V-A formalism. Results from the two- and three dimensional models are compared, showing close agreement. Finally, we discuss the future applicability of GetDP for more complex simulations.
