We introduced an effective microscopic model, which may host, due to strong interaction, parafermions, the generalization of the Majorana zero modes. We found characteristic features of parafermions with DMRG calculations. We mapped the phase diagram as a function of the model parameters, and identified a region with fourfold degeneracy. We characterized these ground states by local quantities and showed that these excitations are localized at the edge states, with topological protection.
