According to many experts, 1968 was a mythical year that caused changes in various parts of the world. In October of the same year, decisive changes were carried out also in Peru with General Juan Velasco Alvarado’s rise to power. The measures introduced especially during the first period of his regime had long-term and irreversible effects on the society and economy of the Andean country. This article aims to analyze and reflect on the events of the first weeks, the circumstances of the formation of his government, the reaction of the Hungarian government to the events, as well as the first steps to establish diplomatic relations between Hungary and Peru, based on the articles of two Hungarian contemporary newspaper sources, Népszabadság and Népszava.
Según muchos expertos, 1968 fue un año mítico que causó cambios en varias partes del mundo. En octubre del mismo año, cambios determinantes se llevaron a cabo también en el Perú con la llegada al poder del general Juan Velasco Alvarado. Las medidas introducidas sobre todo durante el primer periodo de su régimen tuvieron efectos a largo plazo e irreversibles en la sociedad y economía del país andino. El presente artículo se propone analizar y reflexionar sobre los acontecimientos de las primeras semanas, las circunstancias de la formación de su gobierno, la reacción del gobierno húngaro ante los sucesos, así como los primeros pasos para establecer relaciones diplomáticas entre Hungría y Perú, basándose en los artículos de dos fuentes hemerográficas húngaras contemporáneas, los periódicos Népszabadság y Népszava.
