A kiterjedt széki Teleki család történeténél maradva az 1801-ben a Gróf Teleki Mária sírhalma című kötetben megjelent, széki gróf Teleki László által írott költemény értelmezésére teszünk kísérletet.
The paper offers the analysis of the poem by László Teleki published in the volume entitled Countess Mária Teleki’s Grave in 1801. The farewell poems written by the family members of the deceased hold a special place within the specifi c generic group of funeral poems. (The Teleki family from Szék resorted several times to this type of highly elaborated votive text, somewhat different from today’s family mourning customs, also allowing creative decisions.) A contemporary expressed his disapproval in a poem regarding the widowed László Teleki’s poem (by saying that its author arranged the memory-image of the deceased woman, Mária Teleki too much – in an indecent, disrespectful manner – around the presentation of the “body turned cold”.) The life philosophy, the narrative, the memory of a dialogue: the theatre-in-theatre situation creates in the poem a possible story of family and private life as well as personal death aesthetics.
