Tartalmi leírás: |
Taxidermy (meaning stuffing animals, displacement) is the process of getting rid of appearances, the removal of the skin, an act of self-knowledge. Self-knowledge can appear as a problem in György Pálfi ’s film (Taxidermia, 2006), as our main medium, the body, with the act of the Fall, made an attempt at stepping over from nature into techne, and it is this unsuccessful motion that later defined man as the creature of absences, as Mängelwesen.
Our body occupies a transitory position between the carrier of the sacred and the vehicle of the animalistic. Its taxidermy is equal to the desire of its transcending, in which absence (and thus, the human) is dissolved. As an act of compensation this refers us back into the sacral. At the same time it can also be dangerous, as the repeatable perfectness of technical media withdraws the human from the sphere of art. But what sense does all this make if it turns out that the author (God) who created the world is dead? What remains in the place of the body?
