The oldest data in connection with the confraternity of the Rosary originated from 1728 in the Transylvanian town of Gyergyószentmiklós. Another source revealed that in 1796 the confraternity of the Rosary was founded in the Armenian Catholic church as well. Nowadays more than ten groups of the confraternity is active in Gyergyószentmiklós. Around the most important feasts they gather more regularly than the usual monthlymeeting. The members actively participate in the life of the local community: they lead prayers and songs, help to clean and decorate the church, they organise common prayers in case of illness or death. Every group has its own song and prayer repertoire among which the songs for the honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary are the most important.
