In June 2018, Anne Vainikka, a coauthor of a contribution of this special issue passed away after a battle against cancer. In her last project, Syntax of the Uralic Languages, Vainikka accomplished something that could only be accomplished by her exceptional combination of sunny personality and high professionalism.
