Between 2010 and 2012 we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the writing and presentation of The Tragedy of Man’s dramatic poem of Imre Madách. “The Tragedy” has the greatest variety of interpretations in the Hungarian literature. My study summarizes the real or hypothetical ideal resources and ideal relationships of the Tragedy and even the parallel thoughts with the philosophies of the twentieth century, and describes the ‘philosophy of struggle’. The central idea of Madách’s dramatic poem is the ‘philosophy of struggle’. This progressive ‘philosophy of struggle’ of “The Tragedy of Man” is parallel with the struggle’s idea in classic works of Hungarian literature, with Kant’s concept. The 2nd part of my study proves the conceptual perspectiveness of the Tragedy.
