This lecture note was prepared for first-year master students in Business Informatics at the Corvinus University of Budapest. The subject aims to provide a brief insight into two classical areas of theoretical computer science (computability theory and complexity theory). The qualitative results of the field contribute to classifying the difficulty of problems arising in practical life,
and indicate the appropriate approach to solve problems of different types. We also take a look at some popular interdisciplinary areas of computer science and economics (e.g., algorithmic mechanism design, combinatorial auctions).
