In this article we introduce an effective burnout intervention program created for Hungarian public education teachers. The program consists of elements of self-compassion practices, with which individuals were able to handle their emotional challenges in the present moment, and after reaching a sufficiently mentally healthy stage, the long-term goals of the individuals were processed. In the goal setting, we were focusing on finding/ or implementing individuals’ inner values into their workplace goals, thus creating a committed, persisting and motivated attitude, with which they could turn their daily experiences around – in contrast to a burnt-out attitude they had before. This is why the program was named Renewal program. In the Renewal program, the burnout levels of teachers decreased, their capability of self-compassion increased, and they were becoming “strong enough for showing their weaknesses”. With the success of the Renewal program, it is hopeful that more and more teachers can take part in it in the future.
