The Department of Ergonomics and Psychology of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), founded in 1992, will begin its 35th academic year in September 2026. However, research and teaching in ergonomics began at the university as early as 1963, and teaching in psychology as early as 1892. The study presents the history of the University and the Department, the great predecessors and influential figures, the characteristic educational and research topics of the Department, and its main educational developments and research projects.
