Many researchers utilise eye trackers nowadays. However, there is not much research on usability testing of actual, three-dimensional items in the literature. This paper includes several case studies to demonstrate the problems occurring while completing the new methodology. During a series of tests, some products were assessed with eye-tracking technology to see if it could be used to test similar products. This paper focuses on the methodological challenges. The tested products were a kitchen machine, tents, a dish set that could be folded and a camper car in a prototype phase.
